NV+ Power Supply Failure

My PSU just died yesterday and I tried calling Netgear about a possible replacement or even a discount since my unit falls into the range of affected units in the service action. They told me it was out of warranty and all they could do was offer $75/hr phone support or a $299 3-year extended warranty. Neither are a good deal when the PSU is 'only' $120...I was hoping that they would cut me a break since it was a unit with this known issue, but they didn't seem to care.
