NV+ v1 Volume won't Resync
I've been getting errors on two drives in my NV+ (v1). I couldn't get into Frontview, RAIDar couldn't find it, it stopped responding to ping, and the power button didn't do anything. Eventually, I went ahead and pulled the power. When it came back online, I had a message on the screen "Err: Bad Firmware". After doing a manual firmware update it continued to have problems. Prior to it going down, I was getting SMART errors on 2 disks and had already ordered replacements. Taking a chance, I pulled one of the drives (slot 2) and restarted the NAS which then fired up as if all was well except for being down a drive.
After getting replacements in (WD RED 20EFRX), I swapped the disk in volume 2 and it started the resync process but locked up at 80%. The device went back to being completely unresponsive and after pulling power and turning it back on again, it started the resync again but failed and has done so with each subsequent attempt. I put the old drive in and it's still doing the same thing as well.
At this point, I'm wondering if the NAS itself is the issue.

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat brand and model are the two failing/failed disks?
Do you have a backup? - hysonmbAspirantOne is a Seagate ST32000542AS and the other is a Hitachi HDS722020LA330.
I do have a backup running that should be complete today. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredA resync puts heavy stress on all disks. The other failing disk (disk 1) might not cope with this and hence the NAS locks up.
Might be a good idea to do a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything) with just good disks in place. - hysonmbAspirantThanks, I'll give that a shot tonight.
