NV+ V2 Issue installing ST3000DM001 Seagate 3TB drive
I have just purchased a NV+ V2 and I am having an issue installing ST3000DM001 Seagate 3TB HD. The NAS is detecting the drive as having errors and wont mount. I started to get emails stating 'New SMART disk errors detected!' and the count would increase every fews minutes.
The NAS will accept an older 1TB drive so the NAS is working and that is how I got the smart errors and 'mounting error' emails
I have testing the 3TB drive directly in my PC and USB to sata cable and it work and no errors are detected and also the firmware is up to date according to the seagate tools and label on the drive.
I have done a factory reset of the NAS also to see it that alolowed the drive to mount - did not help.
I am not sure what to do now, on one hand the NAS says the disk is at fault, on the other hand the Seagate tools say the disk is fine - however I have seen a number of posts with issues to do with this being a problematic drive?
FYI - I have tried the drive in slots 1 and 2 - same issue
Can anyone advise what my next step should be?

- Try looking at the SMART stats yourself on the PC. Acronis Drive Monitor is one freeware tool that does that.

BTW, if you can exchange your disk for a different model, I'd suggest a WDC red over the ST3000DM001. There are a lot of issues reported here with the ST3000DM001- mariuttoAspirantI have the report back from Acronis Drive Monitor.
Monitoring: S.M.A.R.T.
Power on time: 0 day(s)
Disk health: 18%.
Health of the disk is below the warning level at 70%. Decreasing disk health may be an indicator of imminent disk failure. Review the S.M.A.R.T. attributes and/or monitoring script messages to determine cause of the problem. <a href="1">Get help online</a>.
Disk temperature: 26 °C.
S.M.A.R.T. attribute Current Pending Sector Count reported warning status.
Off-Line Uncorrectable Sector Count S.M.A.R.T. attribute indicated problems with read/write operations. This may indicate problems with disk surface or heads. Regular backup is recommended; if health continues to decrease, consider cable and/or disk replacement.
in the details page it shows:
Current Pending Sector Count,1160,93,0,Degradation
Uncorrectable Sector Count,1160,93,0,Degradation
as the two items degraded.
Seems as though the disk actually is faulty, that is, can i trust the smart tool? - I think the disk is clearly faulty.
You just bought it, correct? So exchange it with the seller. Seagate will RMA it, but will give you a refurbished drive, not a new replacement.
