Maybe. It definitely didn't do this in 5.3.5
I left the thing on for months running 5.3.5 and I don't recall the fan ever coming on. That's even with me not figuring out that the disk spin-down time became an option and the disks ran constantly for a month.
I just thought I would report it as it kind of bugs me. Its a real PITA turning the device off and on all the time so I don't have to hear the noisy fan while watching TV (it sits in the same room).
