password reset

Hi all

as part of a general overview of my backup arrangements , i decided to fire up my readynas 312 .

i have several issues and thought i would list them all here , i have tried a search but not got obvious answers.

1. i have tried downloading raidar on to my laptop as i upgraded to windows 10 and took the oportunity to clean of all apps for performance.  It downloads 6 but simply refuses to open . tried several downloads , there is a file in downloads but will not open up or run. there was something on it about using readycloud instead.?

2. i have not logged into my nas drive for years ,and cant remember any credentials , i used the netgear /admin1 thing for years but think i changed it at some point. can i force  a security change.

3. one drive sounds a bit noisy they are old 2tb barracudasx2 . what drives would you reccomend as replacements as i am out of touch.

4. decided to leave dropbox and go to one drive , as i use 365 and my boy just had an xbox..  i assume you can back up to one drive on a share or back up ?

5. lastly i have 600gb on my laptop , a lot of it photos and movies all very disorganised i am afraid , . i tried using windows photos to to sort them but it asks you to elect a file for importing. there are dozens of files hiding all over this pc. it would be a mission to sort it . i tried to do a kind:pictures in file explorer it finds them , so i tried copy and drop nas and pictures so i know they are all there but the file is just to big. is there a photo organiser that will search a drive and sort it to defined folders, ie dates or location i can then spend a few hours naming these files and know i have all my images?

thanks so much for any help .

RAIDar should work and will be able to detect your NAS without ReadyCloud. Have you downloaded the installer for RAIDar 6.5 from here? Also, your OS might request to have Java updated.

You can try using the default for OS6 which is admin and password. If it's still not working, doing an OS-Reinstall should reset settings to default.

Using a NAS purposed drives like the Seagate Ironwolf or WD Reds would be best.

There's a Cloud service available to sync with Onedrive. :)

The Community might be able to suggest on this but on the NAS there's none actually.

    HTH! :)

I agree.  Note that the WD20EFAX (current WD 2 TB Red) uses SMR (shingled magnetic recording) - which is a controversial technology for RAID.  So the 2 TB Ironwolf (ST2000VN004) might be the better option.

        Hi guys
Ihad replied to say a big thanks but it isn't here? Anyway a big thanks

Nearly sorted although that drive failed

Looked at the I looked at ironwolf they are pricey can get barracudas 30%less and Toshiba 40 gbp are they a big advantage?

I notice they are only 5900rpm not 7200 does thT effect performance?

        Thanks again
        John
