Performance Difference with 1gb Upgrade?
Hi All, i have a ReadyNAS NV+ (RND4000) with 4 x 2TB Drives. this is a brilliant machine, it still running on standard 256mb memory I can't fault it on streaming speed, it streams a 25gb bluray rip...
VQ if you do a search here on RAM upgrades, you will find several threads where folks talk about products that work, and products that don't work. Further, you'll find threads where people have failures and suspect their 1GB upgrade may be to blame. Finally, AFAIK there is no official Netgear compatibility list for RAM upgrades because mfrs change their chip complements/configs/specs w/o notice or explanation so it's impossible to relate a model number with confidence.
My advice to you is that if you are happy with the way your NV+ is working, and it sounds to me like it is working perfectly well and fast, then you should make your best effort to resist all temptation to "upgrade"! It's not broken, don't try to fix it! ;)
P.S. My sig is wrong, as it lists a RAM upgrade which I no longer have in service (I'm back to stock). I had a failure, and a problem too with a firmware upgrade, and after replacing the chassis have not found any reason to install my 1GB chip again.
