Possible on ReadyNAS Duo

Is there a way to use the power on/off schedule but also have the ability to turn it on and off manually? You see I have two jobs I'd quite like the ReadyNAS to do. The first is to be the Time Machine for my wife's MacBook Pro, and to use the schedule to set it to wake itself up for a few hours each evening when she's most likely to have the computer on so it can get in at least one back up per day. That seems to be dead easy to set up. The second job is to use it as an iTunes server for a large music collection and also as a bit of extra storage for odds and ends, which means turning it on and off as needed. This also seems to be straightforward is actually what it's doing right now. But elsewhere here answers to questions about power schedule problems seem to suggest that if you're using the schedule powering on and off manually will disrupt it and it won't start up on its own next time its supposed to. Have I got that right and if so is there a workaround?
