power on after power loss
I have a number of ReadyNASDuo's in the field. (200) Occasionally one will be shut down by a loss of power. Is there a way to make the unit power itself back on? This is a time consuming process to find someone to go and check and power back on.

- It's a hardware limitation with the Duo (v1). Not sure about the Duo v2.
If you need this feature I'd recommend ReadyNAS Ultra/Pro units. Note you would have to migrate your data e.g. across your network due to the different RAID format.
Now putting the NAS units on APC UPS (with USB port, must not be serial-to-USB) units is a good option. You can connect both the power of the NAS and a USB cable (should be included with UPS) from the NAS to the UPS. This will stop the NAS from turning off during a brief power failure. If you have multiple ReadyNAS units you can share the UPS over your network (would obviously need additional units power cable connected to UPS and router/switch to be on the UPS too for this to work, router/switch can be left to turn off when UPS battery runs out).
Note even the ReadyNAS units that support auto power on after power failure if safely shutdown by a UPS will stay off once power is restored.
