Power Outage --- Now S.O.S. Blinking Lights (ReadyNasDUO)

It wasn't a magnetic field you felt. The platter was still spinning, so it was acting as gyroscope or flywheel - resisting your attempts to change its orientation.

Anyway, if you have a backup you can delete the partitions on both disks on a Windows system, and reinsert them. The NAS should then do a factory reset. If you don't have a backup, try using Linux Reader to access disk 1 (http://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/)
