Pro 6 drives don't spin down

I have a Pro 6 (FW 4.2.17) with 4 x Seagate Barracuda LP ST2000DL003 drives. The drives are on the HCL. Something seems to be stopping the drives from spinning down and I wonder if someone can help me track it down. I have the following Add-ons installed:

- PHP-5 (WhoCares)
- Enable Root SSH Access
- Plex Media Server
- NAS Monitor

The problem is that with the drive spin-down set to 30 minutes, the drives never spin down. I say this because usually I hear the drives spin up when accessing the NAS after they HAVE spun down. If I set the spin-down time to 5 minutes they do spin down. Once spun-down, I periodically hear them spin up again without any user-access to the NAS. Is there a log somewhere where I can see spin-up/down activity and a matching general log to try match activity on the Pro 6? I did try removing Plex as it's very young code and that didn't influence this.

Thanks!

James

  • Please check the system logs to verify any activity or service running in the backgroud. You will also see there if the NAS did spin down.
  • I resolved this issue via 'System Software re-install' on the Pro 6.
