I'll share my experience.
I had exactly the same issue , the unit was on all the time , but in the few times I powered it off there was quite often a 15 min heart stopping wait before it would power up.
whilst orgainizing for a new project I powered it of and moved it. Unlike other occasions I did not power it in again for 12 hours. This time it did not power on .
checked warranty , just over a year out of date - no problem I'll have to pay for new PSU
checked forum , it's just an ATX PSU. strip down the readynas pro and plug in new PSU ( large and won't fit in cabinet). First time power up , check shutdown , startup just to check, works a dream.
I was not surprised to see a reply from netgear in my inbox after a few hours, expecting to pay over the odds for a new PSU I opened the email:
netgear ar have completely washed their hands of it - haven't even got a part/no !
this has just made netgear fall from the pedestal I've put them on. I'm not a big hitter at home, but my turned around opinion will cost them at work !
if it was really old I could understand it , but 1 year out of warranty for a business product ?
anyway , extracted the PSU , googled on , £37 inc vat , be here Tuesday morning.
bye bye netgear :-(
