RAIDAR fallback version for MacOS: 4.3.8 worked for me
Just got a new iMac, runnng macOS Sierra 10.12.4
Fired up my ReadyNAS+ (after about a year powered down) to pull in some backed up photos.
Installed latest downlkoad RAIDAR (6.x) from download site to the iMAC.
Needed to first install Jave 7 (no problem).
Started up RAIDAR: the scan did not find the ReadyNAS+.
Scratched head, then went to my Windows 7 laptop.
Started RAIDAR on my laptop, it found the ReadyNAS+ no problem.
Checked version: RAIDAR 4.3.8 on my Windows 7 laptop.
Went back and downloaded same version 4.3.8 for MacOS to the iMAC
(Need to first go to System Preferences --> Security and allow installation of application from a non-approved Developer)
Had to also first download Java 6, before RAIDAR 4.3.8 could install on the iMac
Downloaded RAIDAR 4.3.8 to iMAC
Started RAIDAR, scan found my ReadyNAS+ no problem.
Importing pictures now
Hello Jenn,
I decided to stay with the version 4.3.8 for MacOS since it is still working for me.
I do not have time at the moment to debug why the latest version 6.x did not work.
As you said, perhaps I should have re-started the iMAc after installing Java 7.
If I run into problems which require use of 6.3, I will look into that further,
Thanks for your help.

Hello rg2go,
RAIDar 6.3.0 should be enough and work on your Mac. It's probably the JAVA. Did you try restarting the computer?
