Read Only mounted NTFS USB Drive console fix?

I'm having similar issues to https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyNAS-Storage-Apps-Current/Problems-with-Backup-to-USB-HDD/m-p/1920642

In essense, a NFTS USB drive has gone read_only (appeared to be mid-write and for some reason re-connected).

Now the Windows method to fix it is listed here: https://kb.netgear.com/29402/ReadyNAS-OS-6-USB-drive-is-mounted-as-read-only

However, I don't have physical access to to NAS (OS 6.9.6/RN316), but can ssh/console into it and remote manage it without issues. I need to fix the NTFS drive read_only issue remotely (console).

I've check FrontView page, but that has no tools to address USB mounted drives other than to eject them and I can't see any apps that can do anything either.

I've checked on using ntfsfix (as part of ntfs-3g), but ntfs-3g doesn't install - gives this error:

> The following packages have unmet dependencies:
> ntfs-3g : Depends: libgcrypt11 (>= 1.4.5) but it is not installable
> Depends: libgnutls26 (>= 2.12.17-0) but it is not installable
> E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Checking which libs are installed, it appears as follows:

> libgcrypt11-dev/oldoldstable,now 1.5.4-3+really1.6.3-2+deb8u8 all [installed]
> libgnutls-deb0-28/oldoldstable,now 3.3.30-0+deb8u1 amd64 [installed,automatic]

Is there a way to install ntfs-3g so I can use ntfsfix to remotely fix the read only NTFS USB drive OR is there an alternative ssh/console way to resolve this?

Thanks
