Ready NAS DUO V1, Windows 10 can't set back ups and other network issues!

Hi My First post and after nearly 10 years of perfect service my Ready NAS Duo V1 has an issue, well I think it is more a Windows 10 issue as all was working in Windows 7.

I have recently upgraded my PCs to Win 10 Pro (Ver 19041) and now I am having trouble with Network access to and from and Back up setting of my Ready NAS.

So, what works at the moment?

I can get in to the webpage for set up/ wizard/ etc. in Chrome

I can access the back up shares through Chrome

I can see the Ready NAS in RAIDar 6.5.0

I can see the ReadyNAS in  File Explorer

So, What is the problem?

I can't access the Ready NAS from File Explorer I get an Error message "0x800004002 No such interface supported" (see Picture)

I can't see the Ready NAS when I want use it as a Back up device (See Picture)

As it's a number of pictures I have created a PDF with the pictures in and added a little comment for each.

I am almost certian this is a Windows 10 problem as it seems to be the same on both my Windows 10 PCs but I can't find a coherant solution to this issue yet.

Thanks for any support the community has to offer.

Chris

First go into "turn windows features on and off" on the PC and make sure the SMB 1 client is enabled.

Then troubleshoot file explorer.  First try entering \\192.168.0.27 into the file explorer address bar (being careful to use the correct slash direction).

If it asks for a network password, then you can try using admin as the username and the NAS admin password for now.  Though it is better practice to create a NAS user account on the NAS, and use that username/password instead. You can also set this credential in the Windows Credential Manager.

Once you confirm that you can reach the NAS using the file explorer address bar, then move on to backup.  Try entering \\192.168.0.27\sharename into the network location field at the bottom of the "select folder" window in your screenshot.  Use the real sharename of course (and be careful to use the correct slash direction).

Overall, clicking on the icon in the network list only works if the NAS is listed as a computer (and in your case it is listed as storage).  There's no way I know of to fix that.  The workarounds are

    • set up desktop shortcuts on the PC that open file explorer with the correct share
    • add a network location in the main file explorer window
    • just get used to entering \\192.168.0.27 or \\nas-name (using the real name) into the file explorer address bar.

      Hi StephenB

Thanks for your prompt help. Totally unexpected on a discussion board.

Unfortunately your help hasn't helped me as of yet :(

I attach another set of screen shots.

First go into "turn windows features on and off" on the PC and make sure the SMB 1 client is enabled.

I had already done this as it seemed to be a popular fix while I've been searching for an

      answer...

Then troubleshoot file explorer.  First try entering \\192.168.0.27 into the file explorer address bar (being careful to use the correct slash direction).

I have now tried this, ensuring slashes were correct. the PC tells me there is a "network error" it says that "windows cannot access \\192.168.0.27"

If it asks for a network password, then you can try using admin as the username and the NAS admin password for now.  Though it is better practice to create a NAS user account on the NAS, and use that username/password instead. You can also set this credential in the Windows Credential Manager.

No, It never asked for any credentials...

While not managing to connect to the RND in the earlier part I did give this a shot, I know a long shot but anything is now worth a shot however long...

I also tried to add it as a Mapped drive to no avail, which is no surprise.

Thanks for all your help so far, I look forward to anyother suggestions.
