ReadyCloud vs Admin Page?
I have a ReadyNAS 102 with two 4TB drives installed. I bought the setup 5 years ago and attempted to set it up with a direct connection to my computer but never got it up and running - and so have no...

ReadyCloud requires much newer firmware than 6.1.8.
I suggest upgrading to at least 6.9.6 (though I'd personally go with 6.10.3).
Either way, you cannot do this in one step. You need to update first to 6.2.5, then to 6.5.2, and finally to 6.9.6 or 6.10.3 Disable Antivirus (if it is running) before you begin.
Given that your firmware is 6 years out of date, I strongly urge you to make a full backup of your files before you start.
Note that if you do a factory reset when the process is completed (and then restore the files from the backup) you will end up with significantly faster performance.

Thanks so much for your response. It's the firmware update to 6.2.5 that failed (see one of the screenprints on the attached document). Any idea why the update aborted?
Thanks!

I don't know why it aborted. I suggest downloading the zip file from https://kb.netgear.com/29498/ReadyNAS-OS-Version-6-2-5-RN102-RN104-Only Then extract the image from the zip file, and install it manually from the settings page.

Hi, Stephen. The ReadyNAS firmware is now updated to 6.10.3. The 6.2.5 update happened a bit mysteriously (maybe my earlier try from within the ADMIN page wasn't completely aborted), and then I was able to install 6.5.2 and 6.10.3 normally from within ADMIN. I had to restart the machine one extra time, but then was able to log into the ADMIN page as well as ReadyCLOUD. Great! Thanks so much for your help. Two remaining questions before I start figuring out how to actually set the storage up - maybe you can help me:
1. On both the ADMIN and ReadyCLOUD pages "Not secure" appears before the URL in the address bar of the browser. Drop-down boxes appear below the "Not secure" message and they list "Certificate, Cookies, and Settings" in the Admin message box and "Cookies and Settings" in the ReadyCLOUD message box. Can you give me any guidance on how to deal with this?
2. In the ReadyCloud Manage page there is a red dot next to Antivirus, with "Disabled" noted. Is there an antivirus program that comes with the firmware that I should be turning on? For my computers I rely on Windows Defender.
Thanks! Bruce
