Maybe connect the disks to a PC (either with SATA or a USB adapter/dock) and test them there?

Hi Stephen,
Thank you for the suggestion. I did that. I removed the disks from the NAS and connected them to my Windows laptop (with a USB to SATA dock).
From there I removed the partitions and re-formatted the disks.
After installing the disks back into the NAS, I entered the boot menu and started Factory Default again.
Guess what? All good now! The NAS is back online and good to go! Jeej!
