Readynas 314 and Seagate 2TB USB drive
Hello
I have recently purchased a ReadyNAS 314 and a 2TB Seagate portable USB3 external hard drive for the purpose of backing up the NAS contents. When I plug the drive into one of the rear USB ports on the NAS it becomes visible but is read-only. Log entries state "System: External storage 'Seagate ST2000LM003 HN-M201RAD' may not have been safely ejected after last use. This device will be read-only. You will need to plug it into its native operating system and repair it before it will be writeable."
I have plugged the external drive into a PC and it functions normally so there should be no need for a repair as the log entry suggests. Is this a hardware compatibility issue, or something else?
Thanks

I had connected to a pc and properly disconnected previously but I've just tried it again on another computer and Windows prompted for a scan. Once the scan completed it now works perfectly in the NAS.
Thanks again for your assistance.
