ReadyNAS 314 OS 6.6.0 does not see Seagate Backup Plus 2TB

ReadyNAS 314 RN31442D OS 6.6.0 does not see a Seagate Backup Plus Slim drive inserted into either rear UBS ports.  However plug in a USB flash drive and I can see the Seaget drive.  Use a Seagate Backup Plus with external power and I see the drive immediately.

Anyone have any ideas?

Welcome to the ReadyNAS Community.  I have not tried this on a 314 but I did have a similar situation on a RN202.  Based on my observations, it appears the USB ports on the ReadyNAS do not have enough power to support a portable hard drive.  I have tried a couple of different drives and the only ones that work are the desktop version that have their own power.

There are a couple of moderators on this site that are very close to Netgear and may have a more technical explanation but that has been my experience.

    Hope that helps.

    regards,

        Hi MarkR_ubs,

There are other posters that have reported this issue on the OS 6.6.0 and I think NETGEAR engineering is aware of this. Hopefully a fix will be released soon.
