ReadyNAS 424 screen error msgs and needs a reboot
Hi folks
Any suggestions as to what's up with my ReadyNAS424 with 2 mirrored disks? - it occasionally freezes with one of two error messages on the screen:
and it once had this instead:
A few weeks ago I did a defrag, a scrub and a balance. Not done a disk test, but no errors on the SMART screen for each disk.
When it plays up (usually when writing) it freezes, and then I lose access via the web interface too. Reboots OK and then it runs again for a while.... No errors in the web page logs though - everything's green
Thanks!
John

Maybe run the memory test from the boot menu next.
Also, you could run the diags in RAIDar.
Reads like a classic btrfs error. Time to run something like a btrfs check --repair
Yes, memory or similar hardware issues can cause these errors as StephenB coreclty says. Trouble with those actions is to have uncertain outcomes: A more reliable (but not very practical) alternative is to just recreate the btrfs filesystem, and restore a backup.

I suggest starting without the --repair. It is a risky option.
Downloading the full log zip and looking in there could uncover more clues on what is going on.

Yes, thanks you everyone for your suggestions. đ
Although I do know how to download the extensive zipped logs, I'm no Linux expert, so I don't know what to look for within those logs...
Any tips/suggestions?
