2 questions relating to this please if anyone can help me...

1 ! wanted to use 1 if the spare bays I have for CCTV and i bought a CCTV drive, placed it in the bay, and its used it automatically as general storage, is this correct, or and i refer to it as a stand alone volume?

2 on this topic, I notice that "surveillance" has been removed some time ago, is threr an an alternative i can mount on the NAS or will it need to be ran on a pc and just use the NAS as storage space?

any help on either of these topics would be helpful.

thanks in advance

  • If you are using XRAID, then when you insert a new drive it is normally added to the existing volume.  If you don't want that to happen, then you need to switch to FlexRaid.

Netgear no longer offers any surveillance app, so you are on your own there.  Hopefully other users will chime in. I believe Sandshark uses Blue Iris - running it on a PC, but using the NAS for storage.
