ReadyNas 428 copying files to a share from windows 10

Question

this may have been asked before but from windows 10 i can copy files to a folder in a share but i cant copy files or folders to the root of a share.&nbsp; This issue is when using file browser in windows, I don't have this problem when copying files using the web browser?

Try resetting the file permissions from the file access tab of the share settings.

Have you set up a NAS user account?&nbsp; If so, are you using those credentials when accessing the NAS?

I just tried my sons notebook and he does not have this issue. So at this time it appears to be a qwerk with my office PC. Tomorrow I will but my neighbours PC on the network to see if it has the issue.

I dont know if this is related and i don't know if i did this to my current PC but there was a registry hack some time ago so that you could view shares on readynas 4.2.

The issue there was likely enabling SMB 1/CIFS - which is not a problem with the 428.
&nbsp;
There might be security policies on the work PC that are not allowing access to network shares.&nbsp; So you might want to check with your company's iT dept.

You might also try this test:
Open CMD (which gives you a text box interface on the PC).
&nbsp;
Then enter this:
net use * /del /y
net use z: \nas-ip-address\data /user:admin nas-admin-password
using the real NAS IP address and NAS admin password of course.&nbsp; If you use FlexRaid, you'll also need to substitute your actual volume name for "data".
&nbsp;
This should mount the full NAS data volume as drive letter Z on the PC.

I have now tried 3 machines running windows 10 pro and all the same.&nbsp; the only machine that works "normally" or as i would expect is my sons notebook which has the latest windows on it.
