I have 2 of the seagate 4tb drives and they have been working fine.

It could be something specific to the hitachi 4tb (I didnt even know they had a 4tb drive out), or it could be something to do with over 16tb.
Let me get this straight...
you have 6x 4tb hitachi drives
you put all 6 drives in the ULTRA PLUS 6
factory default with all 6 drives
wait for resync to complete
after resync and frontview > volume indicates 'redundant' and you have about 18tb of usable space
you power off the nas (not reboot)
you turn on the nas, then it starts factory default all over again?
what happens if you just put in ONE 4tb drive and factory default?
what happens if you just put in ONE *NON 4tb* drive and factory default?
