ReadyNAS Duo + 3TB, how to recover the drive
Hi all, first post.
I bought a second hand ReadyNAS Duo RND2000 V2 (as printed on the label on the bottom of the casing) so I can turn my PC off and still have media streaming though out my household.
I Have a 3TB hard drive that I plugged into it. From the minimal reading had done I was under the assumption that the ReadyNAS supported 3TB drives. It seems that is only the case with firmware version 4.2 and higher. Ive tried updating it as the web interface suggested I do and all seemed to go well. After further inspection the firmware is still only version 4.1.XXXX or something.
The ReadyNAS picks up the 3TB drive and displays it as a 746GB drive which is the normal thing to expect according to these forums.
My problem lies in the fact that under Computer Management (win 7) the drive is partitioned into 5 different partitions of various sizes. It seems the ReadyNAS had altered/created these partitions. The partitions DONT show up in My Computer though.
The drive had a LOT of valuable data on it before I moved it from my PC to the ReasdyNAS. Id like to know how I can get this data back as I NEED it.
Would some form of partitioning program work - Partition Magic?
All help appreciated.

- chirpaLuminaryIf the system is up and running with the drive, even with disk capacity displayed wrong, your previous data has already been wiped.
The Duo v1 (what you have) only supports 2TB drives maximum.
You may be able to use some recovery software to scan the disk, but the first ~4GB is lost for sure. - grugAspirantSHIIIIIT!!!
Thats not the answer I was hoping for. Thanks in any case.
Any suggestions as to what programs to try? - grugAspirantAwesome. Thanks very much!
