Readynas duo , four years switched off and now connected to the wilds of the internet
Hi Folks,
i have been living in the US four years and put my ReadyNas Duo in to storage , connected it up now that we are home to the UK , access via web interface is fine and it is syncing just now, but i am unsure how best to progress with updating firmware etc or just to let it do it by itself , or force an older update first , i have a lot if photos , music etc that i would prefer not to lose .
I am just trying to find out which Duo i have but can't exactly rememeber !
Best regards,
dadofjack
IF the NAS is running 4.1.x firmware it is a v1. If it is running 5.x firmware it is a v2.

If you have data you don't want to lose, then back it up!
Then do a firmware upgrade to the current version.

Hi Stephen,
Thanks for the prompt reply :-)
my original Duo is syncing at the moment and i didn't want to move it around to check( i'm thinking it's a version 1 ) but i do have another readyNas duo that is version 2 . I will let them both sync and then do an update . i was just unsure if i needed to follow an upgrade path with the firmware or if it will find the latest compatable version itself and install without issue .
Thank you ,
Dadofjack

Best not to move it around - though RAIDar and the admin UI should both be able to show you the current firmware.
Also, if it doesn't say "v2" on the front panel it is a v1. (The labels on the back are confusing, so ignore those).
