Readynas Duo and WD2003FZEX compatibility
I received notification that one of my drives failed 2 days ago. I am concerned about getting another drive in to get me back up and redundant quickly. I am also upgrading from 1 TB drives to 2 TB dri...

Firmware was the latest available for my device. Initialization and Sync with new drive was successful and only took about 5 hours to complete with 925 GB of data even though RAIDiator initially estimated 17-21 hours.
The new 2TB drive seems to continuously be running about 10 degrees F hotter than the older drive since insertion. Also there seems to be more noise, not fan noise but like small clock like platter seeking?? Not sure how to describe. I'm kind of a newb with all of this. Ive had other drives external and internal that I could tell they were failing and were making noises prior to doing so but I don't think this is the same thing. Maybe there is some indexing still going on after almost a full day?? I previously did not have the drives set to spin down after inactivity but since I wont be accessing the information contained on them very often at all I thought I would go ahead and do so. Not sure about benefits over continuously spinning in this situation.
I will wait a few weeks to replace the older 1 TB with the other 2 TB for the added expansion to make sure I wont end up having both of the drives fail.
Thanks all for reading and any info you care to share.
