ReadyNAS NV dead
I have this device which stopped working and I've tried an OS reinstall via USB with still no luck. I have no frontview or SSH access. It has 4 drives configured as X-RAID. 1 drive seems faul...

How did you conclude that drive "seemed to be faulty"?

Hi, in telnet mode disk 2 report unknown partition table. Not sure why.

On a Sparc system using X-RAID that just means that it is the parity disk.
To check for a disk being faulty you would do things like:# get_ata_errors /dev/hdc # get_ata_errors /dev/hde # get_ata_errors /dev/hdg # get_ata_errors /dev/hdi
for starters.
- deejbeeSep 10, 2015Aspirant
Thanks for the quick reply mdgm.
So it's the first drive:
# get_ata_errors /dev/hdc 33370 # get_ata_errors /dev/hde 0 # get_ata_errors /dev/hdg 0 # get_ata_errors /dev/hdi 0
I pulled the first drive out and:

When I restart the device without the first drive it goes into a drive LED flash sequence:
1st 2 lights on then off, then all 4 lights on then off.
Also, RAIDar shows a status of Corrupt root.
Anything else I can do before replacing that drive with a new one?
Thanks.
- mdgm-ntgrSep 10, 2015NETGEAR Employee Retired
Replacing the failed drive with a new one will be necessary, I think. Because it was not the parity disk that failed the system has failed to boot.
