ReadyNas NV+ Disk Failure upgrade

That is not the best way to access the shares. I have an NV+ (4x1TB Seagates, RAIDiator 4.1.7) and that is not the best way to access the shares, If I try it I can only get to the media share and it is empty. (Actually empty) If you are using Windows, in Computer or Windows Explorer, the NAS should show up in the network devices under the Network heading, and then you be able to access the shares that way.
Hindsight is always 20/20, but it is always best to make sure you have a current and complete backup of the system before making any major changes to it. This includes drive upgrades as well as firmware update. (Murphy's Law - Whatever can go wrong will go wrong) If you are having the 512b/4Kb issue, then it means you have an older NV+ that originally shipped with RAIDiator 3.x and while you have upgraded to 4.x, you have not done a factory default.
If you can't get access to the files, you can try opening an online case with tech support and see if they can do anything for you.
