ReadyNAS NV+ does not turn on - HELP!

I'm guessing this is the first generation NV+ (which runs 4.1.x firmware).  There is a second generation (which runs 5.3.x firmware).  They are completely different platforms, so it is important to be very clear on what you have.

The second generation says "NV+ v2" on the front panel; the first generation just says "NV+".  People get confused if they look at other labels (many first generation NV+ say v2 or v3 on other labels on the back).

Also, the first generation NV+ has an internal PSU, the second generation uses an external power adapter.

That can be done.  However, in the case of the first generation NAS, you do need to modify the pinout a bit.  We can provide a diagram if you need one.

Though you might be better off getting a new NAS.  The first generation NV+ went out of production in 2011, and it is a very old design.

You could try to find another used first gen NV+, and either grab its PSU, or move your disks directly to it.  Of course it will be very old too.  If you do that, power it up with a temporary disk (which will be reformatted).  Then confirm that it works, and also update the firmware to the current version (or at least match what you were running before).  Then power down, and migrate your disks (preserving slot order).

Other options include:

1. Using an inexpensive ATX supply temporarily.  That won't fit into the NAS, so you'd use an extension cable to power it.  You'd make the pinout modification in the cable.  That will let you offload the rest of the data.
2. Connect the drives to a PC (either sata, or usb adapter/docks), so you can offload data.  R-Studio software ( https://www.r-studio.com/ ) can be used for this - but make sure you get a version that includes RAID support and the ext file system.  There is a free way to mount the drives in a linux PC.
3.
