ReadyNAS NV+ V1 - Trying to restore files from dead NV+ USB backups
Does anyone know if it's possible (or how) to restore the backup files from an attached USB 2.0 mass storage device that was connected to my, now dead (waiting for a new power supply), NV+ v1? I was vigilant about backing up the critical directories on my NV+ and the "backup" USB mass storage device IS recognized under Windows but the partition on it appears to need to be re-initialized before I can use it. It never occurred to me that I might not be able to access those files outside of the ReadyNAS environment when I developed my backup strategy. Thanks for any suggestions.
Do you recall what file system you were using? Windows doesn't have file system support for ext.
You could try r-linux for windows ( https://www.r-studio.com/free-linux-recovery/Download.shtml )

Great suggestion!! I installed r-linux and was able to pull ALL the files off of it. This should get me by while waiting for the new NV+ power supply to clear customs. Cheers!
