ReadyNAs NV+v2 - does Factory Reset on every boot

I acquired a ReadyNAS NV+ V2 and placed an old 1TB Windows drive into bay 4 and performed a Factory Reset to setup the disk up.. All went well but now every time the NAS is powered on it boots to Factory Reset every time!?

I have seen some posts that it could be down to a locked disk which is plausible because I did shutdown the NAS after trying to enable the 'genie' service which greyed out all the buttons and not knowing what was happening after a few minutes I powered down the NAS by pulling the plug because the front power button did nothing.

Can somebody help me with this please?

Do you have another disk you can try?

Yes, I do have another 1TB drive and want to pair it with the one that now appears to be locked.

I did attach the disk to a PC to reformat it using Windows disk manager but kept failing with i/o error. Also tried the 'clean' option in diskpart but that also failed too.

I will try the other disk but feel I can't use the locked one to have as RAID 1.

      I'll let you know.

I removed the disk and replaced with another then factory defaulted the ReadyNAS and all ok and reboots with no problems so clearly the other disk is at fault (i.e. locked).

I placed the disk back into the ReadyNAS which was disk checked while booting and no problems found.

However, when viewing volumes only the boot disk shows and not the 2nd one (I only have to disks on the ReadyNAS), bay 1 is the boot disk and bay 4 is the one that causes the boot to factory default when loading on it's own.

Any idea how to check if it has been locked and how to remove it so I can set up a RAID 1?
