Readynas Pro 6 - Err Used disks Check RAIDar
Hi all,
Sorry if this thread has been mentioned before but I tried to search thru but couldnt find a simliar solution. Hence this new post.
Yesterday 1 of the computers could not access the shared folders on the drive. It kept prompting for a password on a public available folder. But the other computers were able to access the folder.
When I tried to reboot it from the webGUI options were not displayed, maybe due to an incompatiable browser.
Hence I performed a manual reboot.
On reboot the system showed Err: Used Disks, Check RAIDar.
I tried to remove each of the disk and booting up. But it still showed the same error message.
Could it be the disk is corrupted? There is no light indicator on which is faulty.
Also the disk is running on Toshiba hard drives. Unforuntately, I only have laptops and the toshiba diagnostics only work with Master harddisk.
I managed to telnet in and run "start_raids -v"

Is there any way to restore the drives without losing the data inside?
I understand that we can run the backup function and restore it upon reinstallation of the OS as mentioned in the other discussion.
But I would like to ask, where does the data store if I were to perform a backup?
Also on the RAIDar application.
It showed as dirty disks and has the only option to format.
Please advise.

I think a mod might have split this off from another topic. It looks like you have an RN314 (even though the title says Pro-6). Is that correct?
If you have a backup, then the simplest option is to do a factory reset on the NAS, reconfigure it, and restore the data from the backup.
If not, it appears you need data recovery. You can use Netgear paid support (my.netgear.com). https://kb.netgear.com/69/ReadyNAS-Data-Recovery-Diagnostics-Scope-of-Service Or you can try RAID recovery software like ReclaiMe.
