ReadyNAS Pro Business - Ch 6 keeps failing #21378314

(Support ticket #21378314)

This machine is on a support contract... just FYI

ReadyNAS Pro Business (6 x 1TB) had disk 6 fail 3 times.

They sent me a new (Pro 6) Chassis

Moved all disks over, incuding "dead" disk 6 - per support

Now on NEW CHASSIS.

booting was slow

removed disk 6 as requested - now booting all good.

added NEW disk 6 - resynched happily

waited and then replaced disk 3 (bad sector count) and resync took forever
and lots of "clunks".

Disk 3 now happily online, and disk 6 FAILED (dead) again.

So at this point, my business has been down for a week+ and still we can't
seem to get it FIXED.

Help?

    What brand and model disks are you using?

    When you migrated the array over to the new chassis did you update the firmware using a spare disk first?
  • No, I did exactly what the support engineer told me to do. Move the disks over and reboot.

    (it should be noted that the firmware on the new chassis was newer than that of the original machine)

    The disks are a mix. All supplied by Netgear.

    1 x WD1003FBYX

    1 x Hitachi HUA722010CLA330
