The "v1" sparc platforms (all the original Infrant ReadyNAS, NV+ v1, Duo v1, some rack mount units) all run 4.1.x firmware and use a dedicated parity disk.
The x86 platforms (NVX, ultra, pro, some rack mount units) run 4.2.x firmware and do not.
