readynas read directory speed
Hi I recently replaced my office windows 2003 server with a readynas 312 file server. I noticed that with the readynas browsing files through the finder on mac was a lot slower than when i did it with the old server.
I downloaded helios lantest app to check the speeds on everything comparing the readynas to the old server and found the readynas performed pretty well in all the read and write tests except for the "read directory (640 files)" test. It took about 350ms whereas on the old server it did it in 13ms.
what is the reason for this slow file browsing on the readynas? Is there a setting I can change that may help speed it up, it gets a little frustrating when I have to go through 20 directories to get to a file and each one takes a couple seconds to load.
Thank you
Well, the backend change resolved the problem!

Helios benchmark is still saying 150ms read directory time which is a lot slower than the old server got (15ms) but it feels just as quick thanks so much!
