readynas RND2210 duo V2 failed drive

hi, we had a power failure and when I turned the NAS drive back on, it booted up but disk 2 green light was flashing rapidly. RAIDar 6.3.0 could see the drive but would not open it. Status: Quota check. Firmware is blank. I thought it was a NAS drive failure so I bought a new WD 1TB drive (red) and inserted it. Blue light is still slow flash and  the disk 2 green light continues flashing rapidly. Can hear the disck occassionally writting but no light for that showing. Not sure what to do Please tell me how to fix this

    Hello RobertA53,

Please check if you can download the logs from the Raidar and kindly provide us a copy, you may use file sharing website like wikisend and just PM the download link. If there is no option to download the logs and still the NAS is not responding I think the next best option would be seek assistance from the engineers and/or higher tier who can remote in to the NAS and fix this from the backend.

You may try contacting support center and avail a support contract. That should allow you to extend the support for your product so they can escalate your issue to L3 or patiently wait for anyone in the community who has the knowledge in the SSH commands and fixing some issues from the backend.

Im sorry for the slow reply. Im not able to access the log throughRaidar to pass on the information you requested. The info on screen says its a corruped root. This is after restarting the NAS drive with only the new single drive inplace

  • What RAID configuration were the drives in? You say you bought a 1TB.  I assume, then, that the old drives are 1TB or smaller.  Otherwise, it's not going to work.

It sounds like you have two corrupt drives.  One may be bad.  Have you tried booting with "skip volume check"?

You may want to try booting with just the new drive in the unit.  If it then goes through a normal install process, power down and switch the drive to the other slot.  If everything is working without regard to slot, the chassis is fine.   You should also test the old drives with the manufacturer's tools (and Seatools works pretty well for drives where the manufacturer has not provided one).  Which of these actions you do first isn't important.
