ReadyNAS Ultra 2 - Mixture of HDD size
I bought the system early 2013 with 2 x Seagate Barracuda 2 TB 7200 rpm 64 mb type ST2000DM001. One of the HDD was showing failure messages recently and got succesfully replaced by the same type which I bought as spare 1 year ago.
Now the second HDD is giving the same message, so I need to replace that one as well.
Question 1: As type ST2000DM001 is no longer available, can I replace it by type ST2000DM006 ?
Question 2: Can I mix 2 different sizes i.e. disk 1 = 2 TB and disk 2 = 3 TB ? Then I would in second time replace disk 1= 2 Tb by a 3 TB in order to spread the costs.
Question 3: Can I mix 2 different brands? Would like to switch to Western Digital RED series ?
Thank you for your swift reply.
Regards, Gino

Seagate Ironwolf and WDC Reds are better choices. Both are intended for NAS use.

Yes.

Yes, but you won't see any increase in capacity until you upgrade both drives.
