Readynas Ultra 2 - No Network - How to get data

Hi,

my Readynas has no network connectivity.

NIC Lights are off.

How can i get my data from the hard drive?

I tried to connect an externale USB drive to the front USB port and press the "Backup" button, but nothing happened.

No lights on the front panel indicating some activity.

I also tried to mount one HDD to my PC (windows) but it is not accessible. I see it in the Disk Management console but i can't do anything.

Any advice?

    That would have worked if you'd created backup jobs and connected them to the button before you lost the ethernet interface.  But it's too late to do that now.

    That is because the NAS uses ext as the file system - and Windows doesn't support that.

     

    You can try using R-linux for Windows in the PC ( https://www.r-studio.com/free-linux-recovery/ ).  That will work with 4.1.x systems (like the Duo) - not sure if it will work with the Ultra.

     

    You can also try the paid version (R-Studio) here: https://www.r-studio.com/  You can download it first, and see if you can find your files.  Purchase it after you've verified that it does.

     

    Also, if you purchase a new X86 ReadyNAS (RN300 or better), you can temporarily mount the disks in the replacement NAS.  That will let you off-load the data.  Once that's done, you'd need to go through the normal setup - which formats the drives.
