Replace rn104 with?

Good day all.
I would to Upgrade my rn104 with new one more powerful. On firts istance seems that the 214 should be the better solution. But I put eyes also on 4 series.
I use the the Nas for home data and plex for movies.
A long term hardware (for my use) is preferable.
Moreover, if I buy new one, can I just swap the 4 HD or I need some adjustement?

Thanks for the attentions.

Luca

    Hi norrispackard

I would prefer the RN400 series over the RN200/RN210 series which has the same architecture with the RN100 series.

You can plugin the disks in order and it should work right away since both units are OS 6 units. You just need to uninstall any apps on the RN104 though before transferring it to the RN400 series since the RN400 is an X86 unit so apps installed on arm based will not be working.

    Migrating a Volume

If you also have an updated firmware on your RN104 though it would be better if you get the new unit updated as well, you can set it up with a spare disk first then update it with the same firmware version then swap the disks and work with your new NAS :)

    Hope this helps!

    Regards
