Replacement drive for ReadyNAS
One of the 1 TB drives in my Ready NAS RND2210 is going. (Error count growing) I plan on replacing. The bad drive is a Seagate Barracuda ST3100524AS (was actually a warranty replacement of a previously failed drive). My other (good) drive is a Seagate Barracuda ST3100528AS. I have been shopping around for a drive and I see on most web sites that the upgraded version of the ST3100524AS is a Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 which retails for about $10.00 less than the ST3100524AS. Specs look about the same on both drives, although the ST1000DM003 has a 64MB cache as opposed to 32MB on the ST3100524AS. Do I have a compatibility issue if I get the ST1000DM003 drive, either with my Ready NAS or the good drive that is currently in my Ready NAS? I tried to check compatibility on the Netgear website, however it does not list my Ready NAS model.

- vandermerweMasterThe rnd2210 is the Duo v2, which does have a HCL.

Select legacy in the first box, then duo v2 in second box. - rexnAspirantLooks like the ST1000DM003 is compatible. So can I put any drive in my Ready NAS in tandem with the one thats already in there, even if its a different manufacturer from that drive as long as its on that compatibility list?
- vandermerweMasterYes
