Replacement Hard Drive Compatibility
I have a ReadyNAS NV+ v1 with 4 x Seagate Barracuda ST31000520AS 1 TB, 5900 RPM drives in a single X-RAID set. I've had the NV+ for about 3.5 years. In those three years, I've experienced three bad drives. Two of them had climbing error counts and the other was an unexpected failure. I have always kept one spare drive on-site so a failed drive can be quickly replaced. Due to the age and availability of these particular drives (plus my bad luck with them), I'd like to purchase a different model and possibly even a different manufacturer for my next spare.
I'm familiar with the HCL but my question is this...
I have four of these Seagate drives in my X-RAID set. When the next drive fails, can I replace it with *any* 1 TB drive on the HCL or do all four drives have to be identical?
Thanks.

- vandermerweMasterAny drive is fine.
The WD red drives have good reports on the forum, and are quite cheap.
Seagate do a NAS drive too which is on the HCL for the newer readynas units and may appear on the legacy unit HCL, but you may be a bit reticent about Seagate I'd guess.
