resinch a dieing disk or add new disk & resinch?

What is the warranty status of your unit? Would you be willing to try a different drive model? (for instance a WDC "Red" 3 TB drive?)

No. I just look at the SMART stats - either on the NAS or on Windows (with acronis disk monitor).
