RN104 - Changed to Static IP and ReadyCloud/Apps now broken
I've just got my RN104. Got it configured and up and running yesterday via ReadyCloud. Once done and logged in, I changed the IP from DHCP to static. I added in the Router DNS and one of the recommen...

First use "check for updates" and see if that also fails to reach the update server. If it does fail, that confirms that something is wrong with your static IP configuration.
Since you have put in the DNS addresses, then look at the subnet mask (usually 255.255.255.0 on a home network) and the gateway address (which is the same as the internal router IP address).
Maybe also double-check both dns addresses, and make sure they are typed correctly.
If "check for updates" works, then perhaps try toggling the ReadyCloud off and then on again (on the cloud page of the web ui).
Another option is to go back to dhcp, and reserve the address in the router. That's a better option for most users than static addresses (which often cause issues when users change routers and forget to reset the static addresses first).

Thanks for the quick response. I can reach the update server no problem. Subnet mask, gateway and DNS etc. are all OK.
I've gone back to DHCP and reserved the IP in the router. That's all fine. I've tried toggling ready cloud off and on.
Gone back in to ReadyCloud via a web browser, and I can hold the backup button to discover the RN104, and the website does indeed discover it, but when you click on the home or registered devices tab on the ReadyCloud site, it's still saying I have no registered devices. It's almost like it registered the device and associated it with the initial DHCP IP my router gave it, and now that's been changed to a static or reserved IP, it no longer sees any registered devices.

Hopefully one of the netgear folks will have a suggestion on how to proceed.
Did you change anything else on the NAS configuration, or just the IP address?

Just the IP address. As soon as I did that, it vanished from ReadyCloud and no matter what I've tried it hasnt come back. I can discover it, but it wont add it back in to registered devices. I've been trying with my Iphone apps etc. My login for ReadyCloud works, but no devices registered.

Perhaps reboot the router (and maybe the ReadyNAS after that).
