To add to this, the md0 partition says - Size: 3.7G, Used: 1.7G, Avail: 1.8G, Used: 49%.
I also have a stable home broadband internet connection, and in all other respects the ReadyNAS seems to be working flawlessly.

There a couple other folks seeing issues with AV updates.

This is higher than usual. What apps are you running?

Hi,
Thanks for reply. Apps currently running:
DVBLink TV Server
Kernel Plus
linux-dash
Logitech Media Server
Transmission for ReadyNAS
So far as I am aware, there have been no recent changes, (updates etc), that co-incide with the start of this problem for me.

Other posters have said this too. One has been able to update using ssh - so that is one option if you are comfortable with linux. I don't use the AV service on the NAS myself, but I did see something similar a couple years ago. I think the issue back then was on the ClamAV end (one of their update servers wasn't working right).

~50% utilization of the OS partition isn't enough to cause your problem, but it is higher than normal. The OS partition of my own RN202 is about 16% full at the moment. Plex is the only app installed. I don't use AntiVirus (if I did, my OS partition would be somewhat more full, but not 50%).
If the OS partition gets completely full, the NAS will misbehave in a variety of ways (including corruption of the NAS configuration files). 50% isn't dangerously full, but still worth paying attention to.
Likely one of your apps (not Kernel Plus) is using the space. The simplest way to bring it back down is to move some of the folders to the data volume (generally into the hidden .apps folder), and replace the original folders with a symbolic link to the new location. This requires ssh (and some knowledge of linux).
Maybe also check if you are running Transmission or Transmission NT. If you are using the older Transmission, you might want consider switching to Transmission NT and see if that reduces the OS space.
If you don't have the linux skills to troubleshoot (and move folders around), then I suggest periodically downloading the log zip file, and making sure that the OS partition fullness doesn't increase over time. Not sure if linux-dash will give you this info or not (as that also isn't an app I use).

Hi,
Thanks for your detailed reply. Whilst I do use Linux as my desktop OS, I am not confident enough with it to start moving folders around - I know how to move them, but not necessarily what to do if it goes wrong.
What I don't understand is that each day, shortly after receiving the daily error email, I can SSH into the ReadyNAS, type "freshclam", the update downloads and installs, and is seen by the NAS' overview screen and logs and everything is OK - until the next day, when the same issue repeats? Is this not an issue with the way the OS is trying to do the update>
As per your sussestion, I have stopped and removed "Transmission for Readynas" v3.00.8, by Poussin and replaced it with "Transmission NT" v2.92-nt2 by NAStools. The md0 parition is still showing 49% used, and was also the same when neither app was installed.
A partion only 50% full causing issues seems very low to me - is that to be expected?

Best just to wait for Netgear to fix it.
