The NAS needs to format the disks.
What version of ReadyNAS OS is on your 312?
When I inserted the discs into the drive bays and powered up the APS lights up but drive 1 and 2 leds do not light up so I am thinking that they are not being seen, they do spin up though.
I tried a factory reset paperclip on reset power on (cant get the unit to display any lights other than power button - so no menu) I can't get drive 1 led to light up at all
The newly purchased drives are on the compatibility list and are unused - completely blank -> 2 x WD RED WD60EFRX
ReadyNas OS is 6.2 as I recently upgraded when I had the 2 x 2Tb drives in the unit.
