RN3138 raid degrader, will it rebulid
Hello. My volume is degraded, disk 2 of 4 is failed. I replaced disk number 2 and it seems the array is not rebuilding. I cant see disk 2 and 4 in volumes screen. Green leds in disks 2 and 4...

I'm not very familiar with how the NAS reacts in RAID10, but I think that may be normal if the two drives shown in green are one RAID0 and the other two are the other two are the ones that should be in the other RAID0 that then should RAID1 with the first. It can't mount the entire second RAID0 with a missing element. With those two blinking, it may be syncing them in RAID0, after which it will sync that with the other two. But I don't know why that sync isn't showing in the GUI, though. Have you refreshed the display since you swapped the drive? It's odd that it seems to show no drives in those slots, not even uninitialized ones.
Are your files accessable? I think they should be, because I believe that message is saying your volume is degraded (not redundant), not dead. If so, no crying. If you can access them, now is psobably a good time to make sure your backup ius up to date in case the only soluition is a factory default.
Can you download the log zip file using the buitton on the Logs page and post the contents of mdstat.log so we can see what's going on with the RAIDs? Logs are usually easiest to read if you post them using the code </> icon at the top of the edit window.
If the RAID didn't start re-sync, the question becomes why. Is the drive you added at least as big as it's mate? Does the log even show that you added the drive? If not, could the new drive just be DoA?

I've been looking at this screen for 6 hours and you finally wrote, thanks!

Yes, i logout and login again, few times.
Yes, my files are accesable, and have backup of them.
I think I can move files to another server, and recreate volume; willl you do that?
> Can you download the log zip file using the buitton on the Logs
I try, but logs are not generating, strange. And I see nothing in System- Settings- Services.
I wanted to setup SSH service, but I cant. And cant connect via putty on server (Im not sure SSH was turned on before)

No- disks are the same size and even PN ( I bought 5 disks, and one was waiting for today :-0 )
> Does the log even show that you added the drive? If not, could the new drive just be DoA?
No I do not see info in logs . What DoA mean?
Strange things is it that i cant restart server, even shut down. It tries to do that, but only one PING is lost during that operations. "Dead on Arrival" - meaning one or both disks are defective. You could test that in a PC with vendor tools (lifeguard for WD, seatools for Seagate).
You might also want to double-check that slots 2 and 4 in the chassis are working. You can do that by
- power down the NAS, removing all disks (labeling by slot)
- Do a factory install on a spare disk (never part of the array) in slot 1.
- Power down, and move that disk to slot 2. Confirm that it boots.
- Repeat with slot 4.

It sounds like way more is wrong with your system than just the drive expansion. Maybe the OS partition is full, which can cause a lot of issues (and definitely inability to download logs because there is no space in which to create the .zip). While it will be a lot of work, I suspect the best way to just get over this is to back up the data, do a factory default on the NAS, and start fresh. If you have a lot of users, you can save the configuration and restore it later. But I'd only save as little of the configuration as would be hard to duplicate, just so nothing causing the problem goes with it.
But testing at least the new drive as StephenB suggested before doing the factory default is still a good idea. I recently got a new drive that failed about 85% through the long test, so new drives can have issues.
Sorry about the DoA thing. Gotta remember not to use such expressions with non-native speakers of English.

Gentlemen, thank you very much for your help.
Currently I have created a temporary server and I am moving data. Then I will not copy the configuration because it is simple, thanks. I will reset the machine to factory settings and create a new volume.
Apparently, I can set RAID6 on this machine, I will try.
You guys are very nice, thank you :-D
