RN524X Poor write speeds over 10GB network
Hello,
I've just set up a new RN524X with Ironwolf HDDs, connected to 1 PC workstation with 10GB adapter and 1 iMac with 1GB adapter, bith via a 10GB netgear switch.
The speeds are as you would expect on the iMac (501 write/432 read) but the speeds on the PC seem a little odd (only 128 write but 4000 read)
The 10GB adapter and switch is new - I've run TCP optimizer and set the adapter to settings to Optimal, which only made a very slight improvement. The switch settings are factory default. When I connect using the old 1GB adapter, the write speed drops to 103.
The other odd thing is that when writing to the readynas from the PC, the drives are much noisier than they are when writing from the iMac.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve the write speeds? I would be very grateful for any pointers!
Thanks

What are you using to measure the speeds? Also, what NIC card are you using in the PC?

Hi Stepehn,
Thans for the response. I'm using LAN Speed Test by Tutusoft to measure the speeds on both the PC and Mac.
The NIC is StarTech (not sure which one withour checking)

Can you also test with NasTester? (http://www.808.dk/?code-csharp-nas-performance) You might want to increase the test transfer to 1 gigabyte,
FWIW, your iMAC speeds are similar to what I see on my Windows 10 system, accessing an RN526x using a Netgear XS708Ev2 switch. The PC is using an Asus XG-C100C NIC. You probably should enable flow control on the switch and the PC nic card.
