Thank you gentlemen for the information and the link. I've looked through the steps but will obviously complete a full backup before attempting it. However, what is the "ReadyNAS web gui firmware update"? Looking at my admin gui panel nothing seems like an obvious place to select a firmware file.
It is where you upload the file to update the device.

Ah I see. Found it where I thought it was and where you said it was - it has just been hidden by a request to "Please do take a minute at this time to register this product online..." which had to be clicked away.
