Seagate Expansion USB 3TB on Duo v2 doesn't work

I have a pair of the same Western Digital 3TB drives referenced by the OP. I have previously been using them via USB 2 with a ReadyNAS Pro Business (semi-retired), and then a WNDR4500 N900 router. I was looking forward to being able to use them at full speed off of the USB 3 ports on my new Duo v2 so that I could have the Duo be my main NAS and the WD drives be my backup. (The N900's USB performance is abysmal; about half of what I get with these drives directly connected via USB 2.)
When I plug these drives into the USB 3 ports on the Duo, the drive powers up, but it is not recognized and there are no changes in the admin interface. Same thing when I unplugged the UPS and plugged the drive into the front port, but now I no longer have any user accounts on the Duo v2.
