If you have the EnableFanMinRPMOverride, you should be fine as the other add-on basically does the same thing but more automatically (you don't have to specify 2100). The only difference is that if you ever did a factory default, you would need to re-install the EnableFanMinRPMOverride add-on whereas you don't with the other one.

Another question that I have is about this thermal fix. As long as the fan runs at the minimum I can see where either of these will solve the problem. However, setting the minimum will not make the NAS run cooler if it is at elevated temperatures. It seems to me that the fan ramp up would need to be increased at temperatures higher than the minimum also. Is this what the Enhance_NV_Thermal_Characteristics_1.1.bin change does?

Fan speed will automatically increase with rising temperature. What the add-on does is to make sure at idle, the PSU is kept cool.

I have had my ReadyNAS NV+ for about three months now. I have been very satisfied with the product. This temperature item is relatively minor. Thank you for addressing it as you have done. I would like to see fans that meet the cooling specs added to a fan compatibility list.
