I tried the reversing fan orientation method for this. As soon as I turn the unit back on, they fan revs up to 2700-2800 and stays there. HDD temp went up 2-3C.
After 2 hours or so, the fan speed never went down even after the HDDs were spun down for a long time.
So in the end I put the fan back into factory setting (blowing out) and it now it's back at 1800 rpm and silent...
I think I will try to take my chances with this setup for now since having the fan going that high rev all the time is a bother to me noise wise
